Sliding House

Designed by Alex de Rijke of dRMM Architects in 2009, the Sliding House is an architectural marvel. The three-bedroom house has a simple silhouette featuring three classic gabled volumes. Mounted on recessed railway tracks, the larch-clad structures glide across the property cover or expose the main house and guest quarters with the push of a button. The unique feature allows owners to go from indoor to open-air living as they please, taking advantage of the bucolic scenery of the East Anglian countryside. Also on the three-and-a-half acre property is a red garage, which is set between the other two buildings to create a courtyard between them.
